The MBBS (Clinical Medicine) program at Jilin University is fully English-medium and MOE-listed, with an annual intake of 80 international seats. The 6-year program (5 academic years + 1 internship) has been running since 2002. One of the standout features of Jilin University's curriculum is its alignment with the American USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination) syllabus, integrating theory and clinical practice from early in the program rather than following the traditional purely sequential approach.
Preclinical subjects are taught at the Nanling Campus by the Norman Bethune College of Medicine. Clinical years are spent at Jilin University's affiliated hospitals. The faculty includes 502 full professors, 661 associate professors, and 171 doctoral advisors. The Norman Bethune Health Science Center has 5 double-hired academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and produces approximately 1,500 research papers per year indexed in SCI and other international databases.
Jilin University maintains 1 national key discipline in Neurology and 13 provincial key disciplines. The ESI top 1% ranking in Clinical Medicine and Pharmacology/Toxicology reflects the research depth of the institution. HSK is not required during the 6-year program; however, students must pass HSK-4 before degree conferral - giving them the full 6 years to achieve this. USMLE pass rates from Jilin University graduates have been tracked and reflect the strength of the curriculum.
