Brawijaya International Student Scholarship (BISS)

The BISS package is fully funded and highly comprehensive. It covers full tuition fees, a monthly living allowance, free accommodation in the university dormitory, health insurance, and round-trip international flight tickets - one of very few Indonesian university scholarships that includes flights. Importantly, there is no application fee, removing a financial barrier that can discourage applicants from lower-income backgrounds. The scholarship is open to students from all countries, and applications are submitted through Brawijaya's own online admissions portal.

The key consideration for prospective applicants is the language of instruction. The majority of UB's programs are taught in Bahasa Indonesia. However, a selected number of programs are available in English, including Computer Science, Veterinary Medicine, Economics and Business, Civil Engineering, and Management. Applicants who intend to study in English must confirm which specific programs and degree levels are currently offered in English via the official portal before applying, as availability can vary by cycle.

Universitas Brawijaya has strong academic strengths in agriculture, veterinary medicine, fisheries and marine science, engineering, and social sciences - fields that align with Indonesia's economic priorities and where the university has genuine research depth. PhD applicants are expected to submit a research proposal and should ideally identify a potential supervisor at UB before applying. The university also has specific CV and Letter of Statement templates that all applicants must use, downloadable from the official portal.
