The CERN Doctoral Student Programme offers PhD students the opportunity to conduct their thesis research at one of the world's most advanced scientific institutions. Participants work alongside leading scientists and engineers on projects that push the boundaries of human knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The programme is designed to integrate theoretical knowledge with real-world application. Students remain enrolled at their home university while performing their research at CERN, ensuring that their work directly contributes to their doctoral thesis requirements.

The contract duration is initially 6 months, with the possibility of renewal for up to 3 years. The total duration can be spread over a maximum of 4 consecutive years to accommodate time spent at the student's home university.
