About the Lester B. Pearson International Student Scholarships
The Lester B. Pearson International Student Scholarships at the University of Toronto are designed to recognize international students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, creativity, and the potential to contribute positively to the global community. It is one of the largest and most competitive scholarship programs for international students in Canada.
The program is tenable only at the University of Toronto for first-entry, undergraduate programs. Each year, approximately 37 students are named Pearson Scholars. The scholarship covers tuition, books, incidental fees, and full residence support for four years of undergraduate study.
To be considered for the scholarship, students must be nominated by their high school. High schools are limited to nominating one student per year. The selection process involves the school choosing their top candidate who best exemplifies the qualities of a Pearson Scholar.
The application process is a multi-step procedure that requires coordination between the student and their school. Students must be nominated by their school, apply for admission to the University of Toronto, and complete a separate, private scholarship application form provided after nomination.
The University of Toronto maintains a strict policy against the use of generative AI tools in the creation of scholarship application content. Applicants found to have used such tools will be disqualified from award eligibility.
