About the The McCall MacBain Scholarships

๐Ÿ• 3 min read

The McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill University represent Canada's largest leadership-based scholarship program for master's and professional studies. Established in 2019, the program aims to support emerging leaders who demonstrate integrity, courage, and a commitment to positive social change across diverse fields such as healthcare, technology, and urban planning.

2

The scholarship provides comprehensive financial support for students to pursue over 150 master's programs and 3 second-entry professional undergraduate degrees at McGill's downtown and Macdonald campuses. Beyond financial aid, scholars participate in an interdisciplinary leadership development program, connect with mentors and coaches, and join a global community of peers.

3

The selection process is rigorous and holistic, evaluating candidates on five core criteria: exceptional character, community engagement, leadership potential, entrepreneurial spirit, and academic strength. Applicants are assessed through a multi-stage process that includes a written application, regional interviews, and final interviews held in Montreal.

4

Each year, up to 30 full scholarships are awarded, with 20 spots reserved for Canadian students and 10 for international students. Additionally, the program offers up to 100 entrance awards, including Regional Awards for semi-finalists and Finalist Awards for those who reach the final interview stage but are not selected as scholars.

5

The program is open to current students on track to graduate by August 2027, as well as recent graduates who earned their first bachelor's degree in or after January 2021. Candidates who earned their first degree earlier than 2021 are eligible if they were 30 years old or younger on January 1st, 2026.
