About the SAARC Quota MBBS/BDS Admissions - Bangladesh 2026
The Government of Bangladesh opens MBBS and BDS admissions for foreign students under the SAARC quota in government medical and dental colleges each academic session. For 2025-2026, a total of 23 seats are available for Pakistani students: 21 for MBBS and 2 for BDS.
This is not a fully funded scholarship - students pay tuition fees, but these are significantly more affordable than private medical colleges in Pakistan or other countries. Degrees are globally recognized by WHO, MCI, and PMDC/PMC, and all teaching is in English, making Bangladesh one of the most accessible and cost-effective MBBS destinations for Pakistani students.
The application route is distinctive: applicants do not apply directly to Bangladeshi universities. Instead, they submit their documents - in hard copy, by hand - to Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in Islamabad. MoFA verifies eligibility and forwards approved applications to Bangladesh's MoFA. This entire process must be completed within a defined window each year.

No. This is a government seat allocation under the SAARC quota, not a full scholarship. Students pay tuition fees, but rates are significantly more affordable than private medical colleges. There is no tuition waiver.
No. The scheme explicitly states that FSC 2023 with Matric 2021 is not eligible. Only FSC 2024 or 2025 combined with Matric 2022 or 2023 qualifies.
Applications must be submitted in person (by hand) to Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad. MoFA then verifies documents and forwards the approved list to Bangladesh's MoFA.
Documents must be attested at three levels: first by the issuing Board (Matric/FSC boards), then by IBCC (Inter Board Committee of Chairmen), and finally by MoFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan). IBCC attestation alone typically takes 2-4 weeks; factor in board attestation before that. Start the process at least 6-8 weeks before the submission deadline. Submitting with incomplete or incorrect attestation will result in rejection - DGHS Bangladesh does not accept partially attested documents.
SAARC quota students at Bangladeshi government medical colleges pay reduced rates compared to non-SAARC foreign students. While exact fee structures vary by college and are updated annually, typical fees are significantly lower than private medical colleges in Pakistan. You should budget for tuition fees (per semester or annual), a registration fee, and living costs in Dhaka or Chittagong. Contact DGHS Bangladesh or the Pakistan Embassy in Dhaka for the most current fee schedule.
Yes. The Bangladesh MBBS degree from government medical colleges is recognized by PMDC/PMC (Pakistan Medical Commission). After completing your MBBS in Bangladesh, you must return to Pakistan and pass the PMDC/PMC Licensing Examination (PMLE) - the national medical licensing test - before you can practice as a doctor in Pakistan. This is a requirement for all foreign MBBS graduates, regardless of country.
