About the Arabic Language Course in Saudi Arabia
The Arabic Language Center (ALC), administered by the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSAA) in Saudi Arabia, is a government-backed program designed to promote the Arabic language internationally and foster deeper cultural and linguistic ties between Saudi Arabia and the wider world. The Center offers structured, intensive Arabic language instruction for international students who wish to learn Arabic as a second language, regardless of their prior level - including absolute beginners.
The program is fully residential. Participants receive free on-campus housing (with separate secure accommodation for male and female students), access to educational, recreational, and sports facilities, and daily transportation between student housing and the Center. No prior Arabic language knowledge is required - the curriculum is structured to take students from zero proficiency through progressive levels of the language.
Eligibility requires a minimum High School certificate or equivalent and a minimum age of 18. Applicants must not have previously received any scholarship from a Saudi educational institution and must not have been academically dismissed from any Saudi institution. Applications are submitted through the official online portal at arabiccenter.ksaa.gov.sa. Shortlisted candidates are invited to a remote interview, which assesses motivation and readiness rather than existing Arabic knowledge. Final decisions are communicated via email.
Saudi Arabia is the natural home for Arabic language learning - the heart of the language's history, literature, and ongoing development. Immersion in this environment accelerates language acquisition in a way that classroom study in non-Arabic-speaking countries cannot replicate. For students interested in careers in Islamic scholarship, diplomacy, Middle East affairs, journalism, finance, or further study at Arab universities, this program provides a foundational credential and experience that is genuinely hard to obtain elsewhere.

No. Applicants must not have previously received a scholarship from any educational institution in Saudi Arabia. Previous Saudi scholarship recipients are not eligible.
No prior Arabic is required - the program is specifically designed for students who want to learn Arabic as a second language. The Center tests and places students at appropriate levels upon arrival. You apply with zero Arabic knowledge and progress through a structured curriculum. The motivation interview after shortlisting is conducted to assess your reasons for wanting to learn Arabic, not your existing language level.
Arabic language proficiency significantly strengthens careers in: Islamic studies and scholarship, international relations with Arab countries, journalism and media covering the Middle East, NGO and humanitarian work in Arab regions, banking and finance (particularly Islamic finance), and academic research in history, linguistics, or political science focused on the Arab world. For students aiming to study further at Saudi, Kuwaiti, UAE, or other Arabic-medium universities, this program is also ideal preparation for Arabic-medium degree programs.
