About the KDDP Scholarship - Kohat Division Development Program

πŸ• 3 min read

The Kohat Division Development Program (KDDP) Scholarship is a Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa initiative under the Higher Education, Archives & Libraries Department. The 3rd Batch (2025-26) offers 154 fully funded scholarships for students from four underserved KPK districts.

2

Target districts and seat distribution: Karak (36 seats), Hangu (30 seats), Kohat (31 seats), and Lakki Marwat (15 seats). All applicants must hold a valid domicile certificate from one of these four districts.

3

Eligible programs include MBBS and BS Nursing at KMU and affiliated colleges, multiple Engineering disciplines at UET Peshawar campuses and GIKI, Petroleum & Gas Engineering at UET Lahore and BUITEMS, and BS AI/Data Sciences/Robotics at PAF-IAST.

4

A mandatory eligibility condition is a BISP-NSER poverty score between 0 and 45 - the scholarship is targeted exclusively at the most economically disadvantaged households in the Kohat division.

5

Applications are submitted directly to the applicant's enrolled university - NOT to HED or any management unit.

6

The KDDP scholarship is notable not just for its financial value but for the specific programs it supports. MBBS, Engineering, and Data Sciences are among the most sought-after and expensive degree tracks in Pakistan - exactly the fields that students from lower-income families in KPK have historically struggled to access and sustain. By targeting these high-value disciplines at reputable institutions like KMU, UET, GIKI, and PAF-IAST, the program ensures that the scholarship produces graduates with strong employability and the ability to contribute meaningfully to both their home districts and the province at large.

Your BISP-NSER poverty score comes from the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER) survey conducted by BISP (Benazir Income Support Programme). If your household has been surveyed, you can check your score via the BISP helpline (0800-26477) or at a BISP Tehsil Office. If your household has not been surveyed, you can request a re-survey at your nearest BISP office. The KDDP requires a score between 0 and 45 - only households in the most economically disadvantaged category qualify. Allow several weeks for score verification before the scholarship deadline.

A

KDDP scholarship recipients are not permitted to hold any other scholarship simultaneously. If you receive another scholarship after KDDP is awarded, you must formally notify the KDDP Management Unit. Concealing a dual scholarship situation can lead to cancellation and potential legal consequences under the scholarship agreement. Choose the scholarship that provides the most comprehensive support and formally decline the other.
